Our Mission

“Supporting People, Strengthening Communities”

The Hill Country Resource Center, home of The Silver Sage, is dedicated to supporting older adults, veterans, individuals with disabilities, children, families in need, and those facing financial hardship. Our goal is to provide essential resources, practical support, and community-driven programs that promote self-sufficiency and improve quality of life.

Our mission is rooted in the belief that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive. We are committed to ensuring access to nutritious meals, critical services, and opportunities that help individuals and families achieve stability and independence. Through education, outreach, community resources, and strong partnerships, we equip the youngest mother or father to the eldest grandmother or grandfather with the tools they need to build a healthy, stable, and sustainable future.

Our family-centered programming supports parents and caregivers in achieving long-term self-sufficiency, ensuring that every child is born into a safe, nurturing environment while every older adult is supported and valued. Through maternal health services and early childhood development initiatives to Meals on Wheels and elder care initiatives, we work to strengthen and encourage families.

At The Hill Country Resource Center and The Silver Sage, we believe that every person deserves respect, dignity, and the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life. By offering practical solutions and fostering strong community connections, we strive to create a future where individuals and families can grow, succeed, and build a better tomorrow together.

About Our Senior Citizen Services

How We're Helping

We are a community-based 501c3 nonprofit Senior Center focused on helping make the world around us a better place since 1984. For 37 years we have been delivering Meals on Wheels to the most vulnerable seniors in Bandera County and providing them a safe space to congregate. With our weekly and monthly food distributions our goal is to ensure no Bandera County senior goes hungry. We are the only organization in Bandera filling the gap to do emergency home repairs after a disaster. Soon we will be providing affordable housing in an active senior community setting.
